Bead and Jewellery #98

Bead and Jewellery #98
Jan. 12, 2020 Tatting Newsletter

I received a new book, actually a magazine, from the UK which has proven itself to be a true delight. It may be a bit hard to find but it will be worth it. Yes, look at the cover!

Yes, that is a tatting pattern on the cover. How neat is that? It looks like a vintage tatted motif à la Frau Frauberger but that is fine. Let the old be made new again. And a new look is obvious with the Swarovski crystals, drops and Miyuki beads. But this is not the best part. The model is accompanied by four pages of full-color tutorial photographs, 45 step by step photos of needle tatting. Marvelous!

During a study of the magazine, I found more tatting, too. Claudia Cattaneo, the designer, on page 29 also featured a necklace in a very familiar four-ring motif joined in the middle type edging, a sweet angel, another necklace of 7 flower motifs encrusted in beads, and lots more.

It is so refreshing to see tatting so prominently featured in print as here in this issue of Bead & Jewellery.

Was the name of the famous tatting designer, Tina Frauberger, new to you? We have some of her patterns posted at BellaOnline.com for you to try out.
